End of February I joined my father in Cardiff for a week of discoveries in the land of dragons. Despite a really bad weather, we were able to visit this beautiful country even if they were obliged to take refuge in a tea room or a pub to escape the rain.

I was in Cardiff during the 6 Nations rugby tournement, the Welsh being crazy of rugby you could feel it all over the city with the flags of the 6 participating nations in the streets, the schedule of matches shown in pubs, .. . There was a great atmosphere.

The nice stuff to do:
  • Visit Cardiff Castle located in the city center.
  • Taking tea in one of the many tea rooms of the city my favorite was the one next to the castle  the Pettigrew Tea Room, their gluten free chocolate cake was to die for.
  • Take a Full English Breakfast.
  • Stroll to the harbor, and enjoy the view.
  • Eat at Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant, is not very local but it was super good.
  • Getting lost in the small covered galleries in the city center, there are a lot of small shops and tea rooms to discover.

Less than an hour's drive from Cardiff is Tintern Abbey. the place is just magical, it is a ruin, only the stone walls remain, the ground is covered with grass and the sky for roof ... it is really beautiful.

A nice trip back in time with the steam train of the Brecon Mountain Railway. It was the first time I took a steam train, and I loved the noise, smell, watch the entire mechanism ... This train takes us into the Brecon Beacon National Park through Taf Fechan reservoir, that was breath taking. A pity that the weather was so bad I would have liked to explore more of the Brecon Beacon.

  2. Oh! It is so nice to see your Welsh adventures! :) Glad that you enjoyed Tintern Abbey (amazing pics, girl!) & Jamie Oliver. I love here also the Brecon train, didn't know it existed! I have ridden one steam train in Majorca before but this seems amazing!
