Je suis de retour avec un autre article déco, cette fois-ci je vous emmène dans ma salle à manger. Pour la première fois on a un vrai espace salle à manger, où on se sent bien et que l'on utilise vraiment.

Hello!
I'm back with another decorative post, this time I'm taking you to my dining room. For the first time we have a real dining area, where we feel good and which we really use.
C'est une pièce plutôt grande qui est séparée du salon par une arche et de la cuisine, on avait vraiment de quoi faire. Le plafond est très haut, et on a un côté de la pièce qui est fait de deux alcôves séparées par un ancien conduit de cheminée. C'était pas forcément facile à meubler, surtout qu'il nous fallait pas mal de rangement pour la cuisine. On a opté pour deux étagères Ivar de chez Ikea dont on a peint les montants en noir. Les étagères sont suffisamment imposantes pour habiller ce mur tout en étant fonctionnel. Et entre les deux j'ai mis une photo sur toile imprimé chez Cheerz (cadeau de la marque), on voulait une photo sympa, qui a un rapport avec la nourriture et en noir et blanc pour aller avec les meubles, du coup on a choisi une photo de glace prise à Margate l'été dernier. J'aime beaucoup le résultat, ça va très bien avec notre déco et c'est un bon souvenir que l'on voit tous les jours.

This is a rather large room that is separated from the lounge by an archway and kitchen, we really had plenty to do. The ceiling is very high, and one side of the room is made of two alcoves separated by an old chimney flue. It was not necessarily easy to furnish, especially since we needed a lot of storage for the kitchen. We opted for two Ivar shelves from Ikea, the uprights of which have been painted black. The shelves are large enough to dress this wall while being functional. And between the two I put a photo on canvas printed at Cheerz (gift from the brand), we wanted a nice photo, which has to do with food and in black and white to go with the furniture, so we choose an ice cream photo taken at Margate last summer. I really like the result, it goes very well with our decor and it's a good memory that we see every day.
Le premier module Ivar nous sert de vaisselier, en vrai on a plus de vaisselle que ça mais tout était à la machine quand j'ai pris les photos, j'y range également les grands saladiers ainsi que les planches à découper, j'y ai mis tous mes livres de cuisine que je peux consulter facilement maintenant. Sur une étagère je mets les produits secs en bocaux, c'est joli et c'est pratique pour voir ce que j'ai. Et puis j'ai forcement mis des plantes un peu partout où je pouvais, en hiver la plus-part sont au bord de la fenêtre mais là le soleil étant trop fort je les ai mise sur les étagères.

The first Ivar module serves as a dresser, in reality we have more dishes than that but everything was in the dishwasher when I took the photos, I also store the large salad bowls as well as the cutting boards, I put all my cookbooks that I can easily read now. On a shelf I put the dry products in jars, it's pretty and it's practical to see what I have. And then I put plants everywhere I could, in winter most of them are at the edge of the window but there the sun being too strong I put them on the shelves.
On a la chance d'avoir une très large fenêtre plein ouest, du coup on a beaucoup de lumière est c'est super agréable surtout en hiver quand il y en a peu. On a mis des rideaux que l'on avait déjà que ma maman nous a fait avec deux draps vintage en lin, ils sont super beaux et j'adore la lumière chaude qu'ils font. Sur le bord de la fenêtre j'ai mis des plantes, en ce moment ce sont des plantes qui résistent au soleil fort, comme les oxalis triangularis qui sont magnifiques et quelques succulentes, ainsi qu'une boule disco parce que why not?!
En ce qui concerne la table à manger, on a vu grand, on voulait une grande table pour pouvoir jouer aux jeux de société dessus sans problèmes et on voulait une table en vrai bois qu'on puis garder très longtemps. C'était pas forcement facile à trouver, et puis on a trouver notre bonheur encore chez Ikea avec le modèle Skogsta. On en est très content, d'un côté on a un banc en bois du même modèle et de l'autre deux fauteuils blanc style Eames. Et sous la table on a mis un tapis vintage rouge qu'on avait récupéré chez les parents de Philippe pour la déco de notre mariage et qui à trouvé sa place chez nous, c'est d’ailleurs le terrain de jeu préféré de nos deux chats qui jouent dessus tous les soir.

We are fortunate to have a very large window facing west, we have a lot of light and it's super nice especially in winter when there is little. We put curtains that we already had that my mom made us with two vintage linen sheets, they are really beautiful and I love the warm light they make. On the edge of the window I put plants, right now these are plants that resist the strong sun, like the oxalis triangularis which are beautiful and some succulents, as well as a disco ball because why not ?!
Regarding the dining table, we went big, we wanted a large table to be able to play board games on it without problems and we wanted a real wood table that we can keep for a very long time. It was not necessarily easy to find, and then we found our happiness again at Ikea with the Skogsta model. We are very happy with it, on one side we have a wooden bench of the same model and on the other two white Eames style armchairs. And under the table we put a vintage red rug that we had collected from Philippe's parents for our wedding decor and which found its place with us, it is also the favorite playground of our two cats playing on it every night.
L'autre module Ivar est utilisé comme bar, on y a mis nos alcools mais aussi nos verres, notamment des verres vintages en cristal que la grand mère de Philippe nous a donné. On a pas mal de pièces vintages dans ce module, comme les carafes en cristal qui vont avec les verres, une dame Jeanne, un porte bouteille en zinc, des dessous de verres en forme d’ananas, ... J'y ai mis aussi une partie de ma collection d'appareils photos, j'ai pu en caser pas mal. J'ai aussi mis toutes mes boites de thé. Niveau plantes, on a un beau begonia maculata, un ceropegia woodii qui a de la distance à faire avant de toucher le sol, et à coté sur un tabouret j'ai mis une monstera deliciousa qui fait la transition entre la salle à manger et le salon. Ce côté est un peu plus fun, avec plus de déco, quelques ananas ici est là , ...

The other Ivar module is used as a bar, we put our spirits there but also our glasses, notably vintage crystal glasses that Philippe's grandmother gave us. We have a lot of vintage pieces in this module, like the crystal decanters that go with the glasses, a demijohn, a zinc bottle holder, pineapple coasters, ... I put also part of my collection of cameras, I was able to store quite a few. I also put all my tea cans. Regarding plants, we have a beautiful begonia maculata, a ceropegia woodii which has distance to do before touching the ground, and next on a stool I put a monstera deliciousa which makes the transition between the dining room and the living room. This side is a little more fun, with more decor, some pineapples here is there,...
